SignatureRX in E-Clinic

Written by John Allen

Configuring SignatureRX in e-clinic is a two-step process. First you need to enable Signature RX in the settings section of e-clinic, then you need to link your User Record with your SignatureRX Account.

n.b. Only users that are set as ‘Practitioners’ can link their account with SignatureRX and Prescribe medications, once they have signed up with SignatureRX.

First go into Settings by selecting the Cog at the top right-hand side of e-clinic.

Then select the tab for ‘Clinical’

From the left-hand side menu select the option for Third Party Integrations. Now select the tab for SignatureRX.

Place a tick in the box for next to ‘Enable E-Clinic to issue digital prescriptions to your patients via SignatureRx.

Select your User Record from the menu at the top right-hand side of e-clinic.

Select the button for ‘Edit SigRX Integration Code’

Enter your SignatureRX Integration Code that you were provided with when you signed up with SignatureRX.

Finally click the ‘Update’ button to link your user account in e-clinic with SignatureRX.

Once SignatureRX has been configured and your user record has been linked to your SignatureRX account, you can then prescribe medications from e-clinic.

There are two areas where you can create a prescription. The first option is on the right-hand side of the patient record, this is done by selecting the ‘Prescription’ popout menu.

This will open a side window where you can search for any medications that you want to prescribe.

In the ‘Medication’ field, start by typing the first few letters of the medication you want to prescribe, and a list of matching medications will be displayed for you to select from.

n.b. The search facility uses the NHS Dm+D database.

The mandatory fields that must be completed to process a medication request are.

‘Dosage’ of the medication.

‘Directions’ i.e. how the medication should be taken or administered.

‘Delivery Method’ this can be one of two options.

Deliver to Patient - The medication is delivered to the patients home address.

Issue for Collection - The medication will be delivered to a local pharmacy for the patient to collect in person.

Once you have entered all the required information, click the ‘Next’ button at the top-right hand side of the Prescription window and you will be taken to the ‘Submit’ page.

Before being able to submit the prescription, you will need to enter your SignatureRX PIN. Your PIN will have been provided to you at the time of signing up with SignatureRX. Until a valid PIN has been entered the ‘Submit’ button will not be available for selection.

Once you have entered your PIN, click the ‘Submit’ button. This will send the Prescription to SignatureRX for processing. You will see a confirmation pop-up message at the top of the screen that shows if the prescription has been successfully submitted to SignatureRX.

If sending the prescription fails, you will see the following message. This generally means that you’ve entered your SignatureRX PIN incorrectly. Re-enter you PIN and try the submission again.

The second option for creating a Prescription in e-clinic is from within the Clinical Cases section. There is a button on the right-hand side of the screen for ‘Issue Prescription’ by selecting this button you can also create a Prescription.

The steps for creating a Prescription from within the Clinical Case follows exactly the same process as outlined above when creating the prescription from within the patient’s record.

Prescriptions that have been issued for a patient are displayed on the Patient Record and in the Clinical Case on the patient’s record.

By selecting the ‘Prescription’ box on the patient record, all prescriptions for the client record you are viewing will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

The last medication to be prescribed will always be shown in the ‘Prescription’ box in the patient record.

Clinical Case

By selecting the ‘Clinical Case’ box and then choosing the option to ‘View’ the clinical case, you will also be able to see all the prescriptions that have been prescribed for the patient.

All of the Prescriptions that have been dispensed will show the following information. Medication

Medication - Type of medication prescribed.

Dosage - The strength of the medication.

Other instructions - Directions on how the medication should be taken.

Delivery Method - For Delivery to Patient of for Collection.

Issued By - Prescribers Name.

Date - When the Prescription was issued.

The medications that have been prescribed by a Practitioner can be viewed by that practitioner by logging into their SignatureRX account online.

The prescriptions can be viewed as an overall list as shown below.

Or you can click into each prescription individually to view the medication information in more detail.
