It is important to verify your domain to send emails through the system. This is to make sure that nobody can send from your domain besides you and to improve the reliability of emails being delivered to your patients.
You will only need to verify your domain once, this will allow you to send with any email address at that verified address.
To start this, simply navigate to Settings > Communication > DNS
Under the Domain drop-down box, you should be able to see all email domains that have or are being used for your clinic's locations. You can adjust these or add different domains under Settings > Setup > Locations, edit the location you wish to add, or adjust the email domain and enter the new information in the email box provided.
Once you're happy, select the domain from the drop-down box. You will then be provided with three CNAME host values. These host names and values will need to be added to your email provider domain settings to verify this on E-Clinic.
How do I know I have a Domain?
If you are unsure if you own a domain, this email you have will have your clinic's name or company within the email address. An example of this would be me@myclinic.co.uk.
If your email has Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook, these are all personal email addresses and cannot be updated with DNS settings.
Provider Consideration
If your location, practitioner, or user email address within E-Clinic is associated with a Gmail, Yahoo! or Outlooks account, which means a sending ‘from’ address, we strongly advise considering an alternative provider as soon as possible.
This recommendation stems from the inability to add the necessary certifications to personal email addresses, potentially resulting in the non-delivery of your communications due to a breach of your provider's new requirements. An alternate option is to consider using a forwarding solution by registering with names.co.uk to address these upcoming changes.
In this case we would suggest registering for an email forwarding solution like the service that is provided by names.co.uk.
Where do I go to update my Domain Settings?
If you have a domain and want to update these details, you will first have to find out which domain provider you use. This may have been set up my an External Team or set up within your clinic. A few examples of domain providers are:
Google Domains/ Workshop
DreamHost
Bluehost
Domain.com
Namecheap
These are examples of domain providers you may have used and each of these providers will have guides on how to update your settings.
What do I do once I update my Domain Settings?
Once the values have been added navigate back to the DNS page and press verify, you should see the status changed to 'Verified'.
If the status remains unverified please double-check check the details have been entered correctly.
